Elaine Funk was hardly having a November to remember. Sales were unseasonably slow for the Prudential, Fox and Roach REALTOR®, a Chairman’s Circle and President’s Club member. "I had just had a hectic week of getting nowhere," said Funk, based in the PFR-Greenville, Delaware, office.
Her fortunes certainly changed after she received her TRENDs in Technology Giveaway Game game piece. Funk vividly recalls opening her mail that particular Monday morning and discovering the envelope containing a scratch-off card. "I opened this up and read it," Funk recalled. "I thought, ‘Well, I’ll scratch this off, but with my luck I’ll probably win French fries from McDonald’s.’ Then I saw the words, ‘winner,’ ‘computer’ and ‘grand prize’ and I just kept scratching faster and faster. I let out a squeal and realized I had won."
Funk learned she had become the owner of a business notebook laptop computer, the grand prize in the TRENDs in Technology Giveaway Game. "Since then I’ve been flying," Funk said, "Everything just seemed to come together." Shortly after listing a new property, she found herself closing two sales in early January and winning jewelry in a hospital raffle. "I credit TREND for changing my luck," she added.
Funk has been in the real estate industry since 1987. She served as the director of relocation of Fox and Lazo for several years before trying her hand at sales for the B. Gary Scott Real Estate Co. Funk was then recruited by Robbins White, which was eventually sold to Prudential Preferred Properties. Funk likes to travel, cook and vacation at her beach house in Lewes, Delaware. She and her husband James recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. They have three children.
Funk wasn’t the only TREND member to win a new laptop. Kitty Jurciukonis of Prudential, Fox and Roach in Media, Pennsylvania, learned that her name had been drawn in the Second Chance Drawing at REALTORS® Triple Play in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Jurciukonis was attending a TREND Board Leadership reception at the convention when she heard the good news. "Someone said to me, ‘Oh, congratulations,’ and I thought how do they know I’m a new grandmother," Jurciukonis recalled. "Then they said I was a winner of a laptop. They had to drag me across the room and confirm it with two people before I actually started to believe it. I was very excited."
The REALTORS® Triple Play was a whirlwind of excitement for Jurciukonis, who welcomed the arrival of a new grandson on December 2, only two days before. Jurciukonis, who has been in the industry since 1984 and is a member of the Million Dollar Club, has served as the President of the Delaware Valley Real Estate Association and Director of the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS®. She and husband Victor have two children.
Edward T. McNally of RE/MAX of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, won a digital camera in the Second Chance Drawing. McNally specializes in marketing and selling duplexes, triplexes and other small apartment buildings. He is also a member of the RE/Max 100 Percent Club and Multi-Million Dollar Club. He and wife Diane have two children.
