Stop! Don’t Delete that Stats Email…Take Advantage of It

Each month, you receive the Market TRENDs email full of timely and relevant statistical information. Do you ever think that the information contained within that email could be extremely beneficial to not just you, but your clients as well? I’m here to show you some ways you can get the most out of that information to really show off your expertise.


Looking for ways to utilize TREND stats? Check out these tips on where to use the info found in the Market History Report

When the Market TRENDs email arrives around the 15th of every month, it is broken down into 3 sections; the Market History Report, Year-to-Date Snapshot and the Market Update. Each section provides very different information that can be utilized in a number of different ways. Check it out and then try it out!

What’s in the Market History Report Section

This section gives you all of the information you need for your specific county. We provide you with a quick sentence or two about what happened in your market, something like Montgomery County saw a large increase, 20%, in Settled units in June 2012 compared to June 2011.” Also included in this section is a quick snapshot chart, comparing, for example, stats from June 2012 and June 2011. This gives you an idea of where the market was and where it is now. You also have direct links to the Single-Family and Condo report, which provides statistical information for the previous 10 years.

How you can use this information

  • Listing presentation: get your hands on all the ammo you can. Include a few pages of the Market History Report, like the Pending Units and Average Settled Price pages. This allows you to visually show your clients what’s been going in their area in an attractive and easy to understand format.
  • Follow-up email: After the presentation, send a follow-up email that includes direct links to the Single-Family and Condo reports. This gives your clients the opportunity to look through the information at their leisure.

What’s in the Year-to-Date Snapshot Section

The Year-to-Date section provides a general overview of what has happened so far this year. Much like the Market History Report section, there is a comparison snapshot, showing stats from this year compared to last, as well as direct links to the Single-Family and Condo reports. These reports compare information, like sales, prices and percentage changes from the last three years.

How you can use this information

    Everyone and their uncle utilizes some form of social media, so take advantage of that fact and this data to provide great, local information on your Facebook page and Twitter feed every month.

  • Take a screenshot of the Year-to-Date Snapshot page and add it to your page.
  • Caption the image with something like “Settled Units up 12% in June ‘12 compared to June ‘11! Shoot me a message for more information.”
Now you’ve not only given them relevant information, but you’ve opened a dialog that helps increase your reach! And you’ll attract visitors who will look for your monthly update regularly.

What’s in the Market Update Section

Here, you’ve got a monthly video that features our stats guru Dave Davis. Dave takes a look at the entire TREND footprint and walks you through the big happenings from the previous month. He even forecasts what we might see in the coming months.

How you can use this information

    If you have a blog, this is a great space to showcase your expertise and use video to add some spice and variation to your text.

  • Create an entry about the market update story and use the numbers we’ve provided for your county.
  • Embed the monthly stats video.
  • Add your own commentary about what you’ve seen from your clients and whether or not you agree or disagree with what Dave had to say (he won’t get upset…hopefully).
If you’re savvy enough, create your own short video that just focuses on your market and post it along with Dave’s for comparison.


These are just a few examples of the things you can do with the Market TRENDs email that can help you build a following and really showcase your expertise and knowledge of the real estate industry.

Don’t waste the Market TRENDs email by deleting it right away. We provide this information to you so you can learn from it, and specifically so you can use it.
